GRAND TOURMALET SKI RESORT

Gite du midi is perfectly located for a fabulous skiing holiday.  We are only 10 minutes drive to La Mongie which is part of the Grand Tourmalet ski area,  the largest in the French Pyrenees. With over over 100km of fantastic skiing and snowboarding it also encompasses the lovely tree lined resort of Bareges. 
There is free and ample parking at La Mongie as well as a regular bus service up and down from the resort.  The bus stop is located about 500m from our drive. There are plenty of restaurants and bars and if you want a break from skiing, why not try a husky ride, snow shoe walk or cross country ski.  Ski hire and ski schools can be found at both resorts and we are happy to help with booking these for you.

PIC DU MIDI

Visit the famous Pic du Midi Observatory.  Take the cable car from La Mongie and enjoy the incredible views of the Pyrenees. The museum explains the history of the observatory, there is an excellent restaurant and if you're brave enough admire the view from the new Pontoon in the Sky
